Armour Up

Armour Up: The Armor of God

Walk in Strength, Victory, and Confidence Through Christ

Introduction

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.”
Ephesians 6:10

Life can feel like a battle. Some days bring temptation. Other days bring fear, stress, disappointment, confusion, or spiritual attack. But as believers, we are not left powerless.

God has given His people divine protection, spiritual strength, and the tools needed to overcome every challenge.

You were not called to live defeated.
You were called to stand strong.

“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”
Romans 8:37

What Is the Armor of God?

The Armor of God is found in Ephesians 6:10–18. It is a picture of how God equips believers to stand firm against temptation, lies, fear, and the attacks of the enemy.

The armor includes:

  • Belt of Truth

  • Breastplate of Righteousness

  • Shoes of the Gospel of Peace

  • Shield of Faith

  • Helmet of Salvation

  • Sword of the Spirit

  • Prayer in the Spirit

This armor is not physical—it is spiritual. It represents the power, promises, and protection of God working in your daily life.

Your Battle Is Real—But So Is Your Victory

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood...”
Ephesians 6:12

Many struggles are deeper than what we can see. Behind discouragement, temptation, confusion, and fear is a spiritual battle.

But here is the good news:

“Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.”
1 John 4:4

You are never alone in the fight.

1. The Belt of Truth

Truth Holds Everything Together

“Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth...”
Ephesians 6:14

A Roman soldier’s belt held the armor in place. Truth holds your spiritual life together.

The enemy speaks lies such as:

  • You will never change

  • God has forgotten you

  • You are too broken

  • There is no hope

But God’s truth says:

  • You are forgiven

  • You are chosen

  • You are loved

  • You can overcome

  • God is with you

“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
John 8:32

When you know God’s truth, you stop living under deception.

2. The Breastplate of Righteousness

Guard Your Heart

“Having put on the breastplate of righteousness.”
Ephesians 6:14

The breastplate protected the chest and heart.

Spiritually, righteousness guards your heart from guilt, shame, and accusation.

Your righteousness is not based on perfection. It is based on Christ.

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.”
Romans 8:1

“He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
2 Corinthians 5:21

You do not fight for acceptance—you fight from acceptance.

3. The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace

Walk With Confidence

“Having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace.”
Ephesians 6:15

God gives peace that stabilizes your walk.

Peace helps you stand steady when life becomes uncertain.

“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:7

These shoes help you:

  • Keep moving forward

  • Walk in purpose

  • Stay steady in trials

  • Carry hope to others

4. The Shield of Faith

Block Every Arrow

“Above all, taking the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.”
Ephesians 6:16

Faith stops the arrows of:

  • Fear

  • Anxiety

  • Doubt

  • Temptation

  • Discouragement

  • Hopelessness

Faith says:

  • God will provide

  • God will heal

  • God will guide

  • God keeps His promises

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
2 Corinthians 5:7

“If God is for us, who can be against us?”
Romans 8:31

5. The Helmet of Salvation

Protect Your Mind

“Take the helmet of salvation.”
Ephesians 6:17

Many battles happen in the mind.

The helmet of salvation protects you from thoughts of despair, confusion, and insecurity.

When you know you belong to Christ, your mind gains peace.

“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You.”
Isaiah 26:3

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.”
2 Corinthians 5:17

You are not your past. You are redeemed.

6. The Sword of the Spirit

Fight Back With the Word of God

“The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
Ephesians 6:17

This is your offensive weapon.

Jesus used Scripture when tempted by Satan, saying:

“It is written...”

God’s Word gives power, direction, and victory.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
Psalm 119:105

“For the word of God is living and powerful...”
Hebrews 4:12

The more Scripture in your heart, the stronger your spiritual defense.

7. Prayer in the Spirit

Stay Connected to Power

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.”
Ephesians 6:18

Prayer keeps you connected to the One who gives victory.

Prayer is where burdens are lifted, wisdom is given, and strength is renewed.

“Call unto Me, and I will answer thee.”
Jeremiah 33:3

“The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”
James 5:16

Never underestimate what happens when you pray.

How to Put On the Armor Daily

Every morning choose to clothe yourself spiritually:

  • Read the Word

  • Pray first

  • Reject lies

  • Trust God’s promises

  • Walk in obedience

  • Guard your mind

  • Stay thankful

  • Keep moving forward

“Put on the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Romans 13:14

Final Encouragement

You may feel tired.
You may feel tested.
You may feel stretched.

But you are not defeated.

God has already equipped you for this season.

“No weapon formed against you shall prosper.”
Isaiah 54:17

“The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
Exodus 14:14

“Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 15:57

Armour Up.

Stand Strong.

Keep Faith.

Walk in Victory.
